Terms and Conditions (T&Cs)

1. Scope

These terms and conditions apply to the use of EngineV1 (hereinafter referred to as the ‘Service’) via the website and the in-car browser. By registering, you accept these terms and conditions.

2. Specification

EngineV1 generates a virtual engine sound in the browser, calculated based on the speed provided by the browser. Engine speed, gear and engine load are simulated. The service does not read any vehicle data and does not interfere with vehicle functions. The current sound profiles are synthetically generated demo sounds.

Whether the service works in a particular vehicle depends on the model, software version and browser. There is no guarantee of a specific function or availability.

3. Account

To use the service, you need an account with a valid email address, which is verified via a confirmation code. Keep your login details confidential. You can have your account deleted at any time. Unverified accounts are automatically deleted after days7.

4. Responsible use

Only set up the service whilst the vehicle is stationary and do not operate it whilst driving. Select a volume at which the vehicle’s warning and system sounds, emergency vehicles and traffic remain clearly audible at all times. The sound is only audible inside the vehicle and does not replace any legally required pedestrian warning sound. You are solely responsible for driving the vehicle.

5. Costs and premium subscription

Basic use of the freely available sounds is free of charge. The optional premium subscription also unlocks all sounds marked as ‘Premium only’.

The price and billing period are displayed before the transaction is completed. The subscription renews automatically for one billing period at a time and can be cancelled at any time at the end of the current period – in the ‘Subscription’ section or via the customer portal of our payment service provider, Stripe. Periods for which payment has already been made will not be refunded on a pro rata basis.

If a payment fails, it is automatically retried; Premium remains available in the meantime. If the payment remains outstanding after the retry attempts, the subscription ends and Premium sounds are blocked.

Lifetime: As an alternative to a subscription, Premium can be permanently unlocked for a one-off payment (‘Lifetime’). There is no renewal and no further payments; the unlock is linked to your account, is non-transferable and remains valid for as long as we offer the service. Any monthly subscription currently active at the time of purchase will be terminated; subscription periods already paid for will not be refunded.

Right of withdrawal: Consumers generally have a 14-day right of withdrawal. By completing the transaction, you expressly request that the Premium service commence immediately and confirm that your right of withdrawal expires upon commencement of the service.

6. Liability

We shall be liable for wilful misconduct and gross negligence, as well as for injury to life, limb or health, in accordance with the statutory provisions. Otherwise, liability for the free service is excluded to the extent permitted by law.

7. Data protection

Location and journey data are processed exclusively locally within the browser and are not stored. You can find further details in the privacy policy.

8. Changes

We may amend these terms and conditions. In the event of significant changes, we will inform you in good time in advance.
